Subject: Seeking info: Hiking Mt Major to Belknap Mtn.

Last summer (2006) I hiked from Major to Straightback to Mt. Anna. A little ways past Mt. Anna I got to the trail sign heading to Belknap, but ran out of time. This summer I want to hike all the way.

I'm wondering what the latter half of the trail is like (the Belknap half): Is the trail well marked? Do you stay for the most part on a ridge or do you gain and lose elevation quite a bit? Is a map available online? Is the total hike one way from Major to Belknap 11 miles or do I have that wrong?

I'll be taking my 12 and 15 year olds with me, so I'm trying to determine how challenging it would be for them--we're just going one way. Thanks in advance!
