You don't say what kind of snowshoeing you're interested in - aerobic circuits on woods roads or summits for example, or how long a hike.

Most of the more popular hiking trails will probably be well packed and not require snowshoes at all - if you wear snowshoes they should have some sort of creepers for the crusty conditions.
