Virtuoso



I could almost taste the cigars
my mind intoxicated
by that cello he played,
hard to separate the two
as each note touched me deeply.

It was more than alcohol calm
shaded lipstick rouge
cherry pierced through,
how mortally wounded
swimming around to be drowned.

Such elegant fingertips touch
flailing at life uttering
gasping for air so scarce,
while that melody played
until it stopped, and I felt it too.
