It’s a nice bright sunny afternoon
As I sit here by the lake
It’s been so long I’ve written
I’ve begun again today.

This park here by the lake
I’ve come here many times
To escape the concrete jungle
And many of its confines

Sitting on this picnic bench
I’ve done many times before
I listen to the rushing waves
Washing upon the shore

Parents all around me here
All with their kids in tow
Enjoy themselves right here today
In time they will go home

I’m glad I took the time today
And now I’ve realized
Coming here was good for me
My strength has energized.
