The Doorway





I gaze into the sky
The stars filling my
Watering eyes

The wind enchants my soul
Like a well-welcomed friend
I traverse another bridge paying your toll

Thoughts of you race through my mind
Giving me the strength
To find
The way through the darkness

My heart calls out to you
With all its might
Not willing to surrender
Or give up this fight

I scale these walls
To reach the doorway of your quintessence
I ponder about the fall
From this height

But I continue
To climb these walls
I dare not look down into the Venue




This benumbed rampart
That you have built
Over the years
Piece by piece
With so many tears

Does not wither my desire
That I feel coursing through my veins
It burns in me like a fire

Wanting to protect you
And bring you into the light
Out of this silent night

To wipe away the tears
To fight the fears

So I clamber these walls
And saunter this path
Heeding your calls
That you entreaty into the wind

The pathway is cold
Stretching through countless miles
And endless folds

A vision haunts me
From the end of this journey
That gives me the strength
And the fury
To make it to the end

I see
A single rose
Swaying gracefully in the garden
So delicately posed

Touched by the wind
Hidden by the relentless rain
Waiting, not willing to bend


She yearns
For the gentle hand
Of a caring man

So I walk this course
Through this silent night
Fighting these fears
Bringing the light

Over these towering walls
To the doorway of your heart
My footsteps echo in the halls

I hold these words
On my breath
For they have fought your fears like swords

Upon that day
That I attain
The doorway
Of your heart

I will whisper these gentle words
Upon one knee

I love you
