Subject: Sad-eyed Little Children

I had written this poem last year, inspired by "World Vision". Now every time when I watch this show, I would think of this poem I had written. Hope it will inspire you too.

Sad-Eyed Little Children

Sad-eyed little children of the world,
staring up at me through the TV screen.

Lost!
Without dreams!
Barefeet!
Dirty clothing!
No clean water to drink!
No school to attend!

Have you ever had one dream
like I had when I was a little girl?

Have you ever owned a Barbie Doll
or perhaps a fascinating Transformer?

If you would transform yourself into anything -

What would you like to be?

Do you dream at all?

Or this privilege of dreaming
is not even yours to have?

I am full of dreams!

If I could share with you
half of what I'm dreaming -

Perhaps then your eyes would light up.
Perhaps then you would learn:

how to dream;
how to hope;
how to smile.

Perhaps then
you would not be sad anymore!
