One: Somber Soliloquy

They sent a poet

words fell
{an era crept}
on deaf walls
{in a mute sheaf}
lay in waste
{pray in haste}
lay as salt
{pray as taught}
where water
meets the sky
{where earth
meets the night}
over red hills
that cry
{under blue seas
that rise}

Two: Serenity

They sent a poet

no one heard
over the din
that sprang
forth
a nova to keep
light
under the firmament

And in the days
that followed
the poet
buried
deeper into the sand
remained
an island
of silence

Three: Treason's Treaty

They sent a poet

Choices
free will
taken
over abundant
crops fall
waste to seasonal
tides

Four: Whispers of Walk

They sent a poet

Given gift
unclear sight
slight of wind
hand stays steady
ready pulse
entwine the eve

Lay down
your arms
Face Elysium
suffer your sin
your toll to travail
