Flight Chase Land Fly Light

The cold light washes
over me as I stand
on the shore, watch the birds
in flight, chase, land, fly, light.

My fight or flight is in perfect
check these days with all systems
go, at an all time high.

I swing, lower my head when spoken
to; carry torches in secret pockets.
Walk on, don't linger to decode
what isn't here.

I am weak at times
and light another smoke
to bring myself down from ceilings
where I've plastered lost emotion.

I didn't choose this day to feel
and somewhere I know
it is only about the words.

You'll return some day
and wonder why you let go.

Hold your breath as long as you need,
it doesn't impress me at all.

I wonder what I was going to do
today before your voice came
to haunt.

In close of morning now
I thank you for feeding
this addiction.

Oh yes, "girls just wanna have fun!"
