Pre-tense


Having an understanding of all these words,
no easy task, as I read of actions in dark places
or thoughts about fumbling friends.

Some take it literally, others a little at a time,
whisper your mind when the back-foot retreats
or stay while I uncover my inside.

Find the person who lives within each view,
too easy to, lie on your back purring and moist
I am out of here, so alas goodbye.

Gratify that tingling bud, if that’s all it takes,
while the mind goes blank with eyes shut tight
to hide the merest exposure of you.

Time out, for an honest debate with yourself,
taken in hand for mechanical bliss that provides
the semblance of some empty lust.

Physical falls to the ravage of time for us all,
envelop the soul, be immersed in the whole life
as nothing or all represents choice.

Cry with me if you feel what each moment is,
laugh, if awkwardly cowering at realities touch
but never humour me, is all I ask.
