Subject: Crazy Mornings

Crazy Mornings

I wake the kids time to get ready,
they grumble and moan it's too early.
Three times I yell before they rise,
now must dress in a hurry.
Don't want to wear that, they say,
always want what's dirty.
They want the same clothes over and over,
This morning I put my foot down.
Hear grumpy moans all morning long.
Time to go out of my mind.
Oh wow, it's getting late,
It's time to get ready for work.
I shower get dressed and fix my hair.
They don't even have there shoes on.
Slow motion they move, they say their tired.
I remind them tonight to bed early,
helps motivate them for a minute.
They pick at each other, argue and fight,
he touched me, he looked at me,
an ongoing battle twenty-four seven.
Complaints about what's for breakfast,
rushing to eat and brush their teeth.
"Mom, sign my permission slip,
the field trip is today."
Always wait to the last minute.
They hurry to put coats on,
and out the door they go.
I yell out "here's your lunch money,"
they run back for that and book bags too.
I kiss and hug them and say, "I love you,
watch out for cars, look both ways,
have a good day and hurry don't be late."
Shut the door, take a deep breath and sigh,
then think about tomorrow.................
