It's 1:00 o'clock!
We have to hurry!
leave no one will worry!

It's never great
to be so late,
for then everybody
will have to wait.

Hey! What's happening here?
Why is the traffic so slow?
Where are these people going?
I wish I know.

Mom's voice is in my head now -
Scolding,
yapping,
Like a puppy, looking for chow

Hey I can't help it,
the traffic's jammed
I told myself
"'Tis the journey of the damned."

Finally we got to the restaurant.
My parents asked, "What do you want?"
But my husband and my daughter,
didn't really know what they should order.

"Aliens!"
I could hear my mom call them in her head.
She didn't really have to say it out
to give me this verbal dread.

"Why haven't you trained them to be more Chinese?"
I could also hear my Dad say it silently,
inside his head
to carry out more dreads.

Hey! Chill it you two!
We're all good people ya know.
This is not show and tell,
You've gotta give them some time to grow

Hey! Just because my husband is not Chinese,
and my beautiful daughter
doesn't look a bit like Pekingnese
there's no reason for you two to act and apeak like this.
