Hey, I know the feeling with 'TIme'...please read my response to Fire, and Rafael...it will clarify my own situation. I completely agree...and what's worse is the orphan 'street-child' population in Rio. It is estimated that there are around twenty thousand homeless children there...a terrible situation.
Sorry again, about my fluctuating responses/comments..

Yes...I'm a Master Plumber by trade, and fully aware of the short-comings of the world's public drinking water problems. There is a rising tribulation here in the states as well. Most of the country is governed by either the UPC or BOCA plumbing codes. Both of these are native only to the US, and both are decent in their own right. For the last five years, however, certain industrial complexes have been pushing for adoption of the IPC, (International Plumbing Code) to save money. This code would reduce our public water potability to that of any third-world country.
For instance: PE tubing (the same material your sony play station is made of) would be an acceptable material regardless of it's current status as a fire and poison hazard. The production of this is cheap, final product cheap, and man-hours involved with installation significantly less than typical piping. Therefore, it would be economically sound for companies in highly competitive markets (like home building) to make use of this, thus the motivation behind much of the clamour. What most people don't realize is that there are a system of checks and balances now in place, that would be effectively wiped away by such a code. No more back-flow protection; no more consumer quality.
I think that the essence of my ramble here could be summed up by my personal actions. I never drink water that is not purified and bottled in an above-grund process. Spring water is out (no purification), and reverse osmosis is out. Companies like Aquafina are good...but coke's Desani line is horrid. Just my HO here man...sorry to go so far off on this tangent, but a real issue for me.
