Hummnnnmm;
Hear it, the sound of the factory,
Both high pitch and low, droning:
The motors of the factory turning.
Your mind shuts them out;
But when you listen they're still there:
Humming, the low tones roaring,
On and on, incessantly!
Vibrating the floor at your feet;
When will it stop?

When will the ceiling cave in,
And blue skies shine in through broken walls,
And sunlight fall upon rusted machinery?
When will the birds come to nest here;
And the only hum that you'll hear,
Are the insects in the field?
