Enough to Span a Lifetime

It is enough to know
As I lay awake, sleepless
That I can roll over and have
The warmth of another waiting there
It is enough to feel
His steady breathing
In my ear and to hear him mumble
In a dream
To climb under the covers after
A mind-numbing day and listen to
His hushed and steady voice
To have him lift up the blankets
Welcome me into the warmth
It is so much more than I could hope
Or earn
To have this man here with me
To know it is forever
It is enough to fill a million years
A million lives
Or more.
