Do Not Be Afraid!

I have searched from the beginning for a truth I could not find,
Have traveled through the hills and valleys deep inside my mind,
Have filled up on the worldly truths that simply will not quell,
This hunger aching in my soul, I've come to know so well.

I have read so many books and guides to help me on my way,
Devouring each and every truth which I would hear them say,
Consuming all the junk food to ease the pains inside,
Seeking out a "quick fix" to stop the tears I've cried.

I have reached out with a trembling hand to ease another's pain,
To relieve the constant torment that was driving them insane,
To somehow make a difference, to make their wrongs seem right,
All alone, and on my own, I walked on through the night.

I have been to places, in which others would not even dare,
To enter in the alleyways where no one seems to care,
Saw many things where most would cringe and simply turn around,
Have seen the hell; have seen the sorrow, beaten to the ground.

I have seen so many demons that roam within the dark,
Upon this heart and body, they sure have left their mark,
Scars that carry stories of the wars I fought alone,
Some have went unnoticed, while some I've never shown.

And through it all I've come to find the lover of the soul,
A hidden source that's deep inside desiring to make us whole,
It emanates with shining light not seen by human eye,
Much brighter than the sun and stars that glisten in the sky.

It lives within the human heart behind the hidden doors,
There for each to have and hold, it's mine and it is yours,
Through inner conversation, (some would call it prayer),
We can then truly help others, though they may be unaware.

This Light in which I speak of is the true spouse and the flame,
The fires that the soul craves, and it's calling out your name.
Like the wind that blows across the treetops reaching for the sky,
Its presence is perceived and touches all that it passes by.

So do not be afraid to spend some time with this force,
Don't underestimate its power, coming from the source,
Merge with passion pure and strong with the one who's true,
The waiting spouse and soulmate, standing there for you!
