silent strength
i steal from you when mine is running
on empty-strength you instilled in me
so long ago.

i can cry here - cuz you're not here
to see the tears and the blackness that
encircles my eyes,
from lack of sleep and tears.
Tears that would not and could not
come until i got to that safe place
I created in my mind.

i trust to feel here-
my pain - my sorrow-
the greyness that encircles
my heart.
here - my sorrow will not turn to self-pity.

Someone in my soul who
does not invade nor intrude-
who allows my spirit
to soar and be free.

That safe place where we go alone
in our minds when we need to....
to rest and cleanse.

a space we created once upon
a time so long ago-
a lasting space
that cannot be replaced----

locked away....for survival
of our soul.
