Maybe I Am

Maybe I am addicted.
In small circles where
grey takes in the darker
shades, there is a need
for flesh, another soul
to share. Many souls
to keep afloat this water's
saturated spirit.
I take.

Play the songs over
and over, until they
become you. Like the
words, the drama you
make. The story of
our lives, all laid out
in words, broken, straight.
Holy Scripture.

Take this book and hide it
among your most treasured
belongings. Save it until
you are ready to hear the
words, as they will come
to you as they have come
to me.

And you will know,
you will see in a flash
all that has been,
all that is to come.

It isn't something we speak
about, aloud to everyday
people we meet on the street,
in school, work and play.

Sit back, reflect the whole
of it, light a scented candle,
warm your spirit; smile
quietly, speak softer
and the world burns.
