They way he talked, she figured she had no chance. Her name wasn't even up as a herd member, and this guy only gave the time of day to anyone with a Lead Mare status. Besides, what horse trotted around vocally letting everyone know he wanted a mate? Most times it just implied that if you're not attached, you're looking.
