Date Posted: 08:51:07 01/17/06 Tue Hey, whats up? Haven't said or heard anything in awhile. I really don't have time for games anymore. I still do karate, work full time at target, part time at the YMCA, but I also have school and I've started taking Aikido in addition to Goju. Aikido is somewhat different than goju. It is based primarily on throwing opponents using their own momentum and putting them in pinning holds. Its more of a passive form of self defence as opposed to Goju which focuses on ending confrontation as quick as possible, even if it means breaking the opponents bones. Aikido is more friendly to them in that it is used to tire them out. I was also thinking of taking Jiu-Jitsu which is a grappling type of karate. Its focus is more on ground fighting. The idea is that over 60% of fights end up on the ground and it focuses on defence and offense while in the position. Its more like Goju in that its focuses on submissive moves which break bones but similair to Aikido in that it focuses on throws and more hands on techniques rather than Punching, Kicking, and Smashing, like Goju. It's not like wrestling though. Wrestling is using your strength to beat an opponent. Aikido and Jiu-Jitsu focus more on agility and knowledge or the body and its weak points. I switched my Major in College from Psychology to Dietetic Nutrition. After reading books on both during my little free time, I've learned that psychology is more of a field in damage control while Nutrition Therapy is more in damage prevention. I find the latter more appealing and interesting. Also, Psychology is about 99% guessing what the problem is while Nutrition therapy is a bit more scientific and factual. So whats up with you? Still going to school? If so, what for? Still going out with Ashley? Where are you working? [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
