Date Posted: 09:59:44 06/12/04 Sat Been looking for a good D&D rpg to play lately like Baldurs Gate or Icewind dale....1. Try the Temple of Elemental Evil. It has the best graphics seen in this series of games and runs in the 3.5 ruleset. The game is alot more like the classic D&D games as far as character creation and combat. Combat is turn based, although i believe you have the option of turning it off. I enjoy turn based as it makes a party much easier to handle. Even for being turn based the game seems to run at a pretty fast pace. Its a great game to try if you are sitting at home bored and in the mood for an rpg. Now the downside of the game. It isn't multiplayer, which probably allows it to have a better single player mode, but if you don't like leveling characters just for a storyline then you probably won't like it. Second, being turn based can be a problem for some people, but chances are if you like Baldurs Gate you will like this one. Third, it is very easy to level. Each level only cost a 1000 more exp than the last. For example: Level 1-1000, Level 2-3000, Level 3-6000, Level 4-10,000, Level 5-15,000, etc. Another thing is that the level cap is at 10, and level caps are never good, especially when its easy to level. So aside from its seemingly abundant flaws, it is a good game. The easy leveling is made up with hard fights that allow you a strategic mindset and give you a chance to use your characters abilities efficiently. And the game graphics are amazing enough to make up for no multiplayer. Oh, and one last thing. Each peice of armor you equip changes your guys appearence to what the peice looks like. So, if your a fighter/mage and equip a robe, you aren't going to look like a half-naked drunk guy running around shouting words and casting fireballs. You will actually where the robe, and if it has a hood, you will have a hood. And if you where a pointy hat....it shows the pointy hat.
