RICH'S MOVIE REVIEW

1/6/04 THE COOLER

Can extraordinarily bad luck be harnessed into a profession? William H. Macy does it in The Cooler. He works at a casino and whenever people start to win, his unlucky pressence brings them right back down. This film starts out slow and doesn't show you where it's going. Once it does, it creates some interesting drama involving the casino buisness, Macy, and his new girlfriend. The story is fairly straightforward and some characters are briefly touched upon while others are delved into quite deeply. Alec Baldwin was very convincing and somewhat brutal as the casino manager. The Cooler is good, but I could have done without seeing Macy's sack and ass. ;-) for the warm feeling The Cooler gave my heart.
