RICH'S MOVIE REVIEW
1/13/04 BIG FISH
Tim Burton is a unique director. In Big Fish, like so many of his other movies, he goes from the darkest, dreariest settings, to the purest, brightest colors in a flash. Much of the film is told in a fantastical style we know can't be possibly true but the literal meanings aren't inportant. The underlying messages of love, dedication, and the bonds we make are important. Tim Burton does a decent job of conveying them on screen. However, overall the film left me wanting more. The characters, story, and performances were just below what would make a person walk out of the theater and say, "Wow!" Big Fish is not perfect but it is good and worth seeing. O:-) for this little slice of heaven Tim Burton has created.
