[finally she unhooked the halter and crossties, then led him out into the courtyard. pulling down the sturrips, she mounted rapidly. settling herself into the saddle with an expert sit, she squeezed his sleek sides gently. asking him for just a smooth walk, wanting to get used to his gate.]
