In the beginning, each of the four races was given their own continent, a place of their own to call home. For a thousand years, there was peace on Karyea.

But during those thousand years, tensions grew, fed and encouraged by Dakken, God of Evil and Discontent. The curiosity of the Humans irritated the elves. The arrogance and classism of the Elves brought animosity from the mers. The insular nymphs frustrated the humans. The warrior Mers were despised as barbarians by the elves.

War broke out. Alliances were made and broken. The destruction was terrible to behold- none was left untouched. Dakken watched and laughed. Caught in the middle were the halflings, children of two races. Nowhere could they find solace, and they were persecuted.

The Gods watched and wept, for all the races were their children, and all the races were killing each other. They discovered what Dakken had done, and stripped him of much of his power, leaving him but a lesser god, for there would always be evil in the world, there was ever a balance.

The gods created Rella, a neutral meeting place for all and a place of solace for the Halflings. With that began the first Great Peace, Also know as the Insular peace for none of the continents would have anything to do with one another. It was then that recorded time began, The beginning of the first century.

There were many small wars and short times of peace. But disaster came again as Dakken had his revenge.

Another huge war broke out, killing more than ever before. The populations were decimated, even Rella was not untouched. Finally, there were simply not enough people left to fight.

In the year 23 of the fifteenth century, Dakken tried again to take control throgh his godling children. Their evil disrupted the tenous peace. They were, eventually and after much suffering defeated.

That was seventeen years ago. It is the year 40 of the fifteenth century. Racism is still widespread, but a tenous peace rules.
