Subject: Hogwarts Express: Emily, Timothy, Davis and Alexandria

“Geez, Mum, do you have to do that?”

Emily couldn’t help but smile her as mother was trying to wipe her own lipstick off of Timothy’s cheek. Every year they went through this. Their Mum would kiss Timothy goodbye, embarrassing him right off the bat, and then she would make another scene trying to wipe it off with a mother’s best cleaner at times, spit. For some reason, maybe it was the mischievous glint in her mother’s eye, Emily was sure that their Mum was doing it for fun.

Luckily for Timothy though, their parents had wanted to arrive early as usual. Emily’s father, famous from more than just his Quidditch career, was not much on crowds, and there was nothing busier than Kings Cross Station, Platform 9 ¾’s, when Hogwarts was ready to start a new school year. However, even though there were only a few others at the Platform this early, there was enough to thoroughly embarrass Timothy.

Ignoring his son’s plight, Emily’s father gave her a light hug. She accepted a slight kiss on the cheek and quietly muttered a quick goodbye before heading off to the Hogworts Express. Harry watched as she interrupted her mother’s plight to say goodbye also and then disappeared on the train. Beside him, Davis remarked, “Don’t worry, Uncle Harry, she’s just in one of her serious moods. Sometimes, you are all she even talks about.”

Harry stopped looking at where his youngest daughter, his one child that felt so distant from him, disappeared onto the train. “Really? I didn’t realize she knew I existed.”

Davis chuckled and shook his head at Harry as if he had said something off the wall. “Well, you are a little hard not to notice, being the Famous Harry Potter and all.”

Interrupting the conversation, Timothy asked his father, “Do you think that Gryffindor will win the cup again this year, Dad?”

Grinning, Harry shrugged. “I can’t choose sides. Even though I’ve heard that Ravenclaw is putting together a pretty good team this year.”

“Nah. Ravenclaw’s Keeper still needs a lot of help, and they are a Seeker short right now.”

Stepping away from Timothy’s parents, the two went on about Quidditch, forgetting their goodbyes. “You really should get out of Keeper mode, Tim. Gryffindor has at least one shoddy Chaser.”

“Shoddy?” Timothy laughed. “Like Ravenclaw should talk. You do remember your fellow Chaser’s, do you not?”

“I could take on your Chasers any day of the week, Potter.”

“And your Keeper sucks, Lupin.” Laughing, he added towards Davis’s sour face, “Oh, I know. Maybe you could talk Emily into being Seeker. I’m sure she is shoddy enough to be on the house team, that is if she can stay on her broom.”

“Maybe I will.”

“You do that.”

“I will.”

“Okay.”

“Okay.”

The two paused in the hallway and Emily stuck her head out of a compartment. “Are you two coming?”

Entering, Davis paused as he realized Emily wasn’t alone. The youngest of the Weasley cousins, who was sitting in one of the window spaces, smiled up from her seat. “Good morning, boys.”

Davis just stuttered and sat down opposite of her as Timothy bowed, “Good day, fair Alexandria.” Grinning as he sat down beside Davis, he asked, “When did you get here? I mean, I thought my parents liked to be early…”

Alexandria laughed. “Dad had to leave early this morning for an emergency, and my mother had lost my Hogwarts’ letter. She was too embarrassed to ask someone else for the correct time, so we just came early.” Motioning to a ball of skin in her lap, she added, “Anka and I have been here for thirty minutes.”

Timothy scrunched up his face. “What is that thing?”

Picking the animal up, she showed him. “Isn’t she a pretty kitty?”

“That bloody thing has no hair!” screeched Timothy.

Emily rolled her eyes. “It’s a Sphynx cat. They don’t have hair, Timmy.”

Davis added and then blushed, “Aren’t they actually Canadian?”

Trying not to notice her friend’s discomfort, Emily answered, “In the Muggle world, maybe.”

Alexandria, not paying attention to the conversation and trying to soothe her cat’s hurt feelings, she asked as she cooed, “Don’t you have pets?”

Davis shook his head. “Dad says that since we live at Hogwarts, we really don’t need pets.”

Timothy punched his friend affectionately, “Think about it though, Davis. Em and I only have Athena and Hermie. You have Hippogriffs and Unicorns.”

As students started arriving, the bustle of moving growing, Emily remarked, “I’d take Athena over a dozen Hippogriffs anyday.”

Grinning at his sister, he agreed. “So would I. However, I don’t think I would sound so stuffy about it.”

Rolling his eyes his friends’ argument, Davis asked Alexandria, “Haven’t you met Athena and Hermie?”

Alexandria shook her head. “I’ve gotten letters delivered by Hermie but have never had time to visit Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny’s. Mum and Dad have always been to busy.”

Digging through her bag, Emily took out a picture and handed it to her. “I can’t believe I’ve never told you about Athena.”

Looking at the picture of a large Golden Labrador playing fetch, Alexandria remarked in awe. “She is beautiful.” Holding it down in front of her cat, she asked, “What do you think, Anka?” In answer, the cat merely yawned and slowly moved the picture away with her paw as she stretched. Giving the picture back to Emily, Alexandria added, “She agrees. Really.”

Timothy grunted and arched an eyebrow. “Right. If you say so.”
