Subject: something to add...

I just wanted to add a little something that I found interesting in my search for meaning. Have either of you read Milton's Paradise Lost? It's interesting, not true or right or even wrong, but there are several thought provoking points within and inferred from its text. One, there are three characteristics of God (or any other being for sake of argument) and they are, this being is omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient. Meaning that God is all around us, all powerful, and all knowing. Now, in this book the devil believes that he is powerful and reigns over Hell. He thinks that the more evil he creates, he takes a piece of God away from man. However, the Devil is unaware that God is always there and knows what he is doing. God must have an evil to show the purity of good. The Devil, hell and such are all necessary evils to show the darkness that is evil and thus the light that is goodness. If there is no Hell, then what is the choice for man? And God is all about choices, he gives man the will to do whatever he pleases, but the consequences (bad or good) are always present. How do you know what something sweet tastes like? You've tasted something sour to compare. There is happiness and sadness, all things that make life a congolmerate of sounds, sights, tastes, and emotions. You should look at William Blake's Songs of Experience and Songs of Innocence, he deals with constrasting images.

Although you may not believe in a hell, I'm assuming you believe in a form or presence of evil and this presence has to have a "home" for lack of a better word. I'm not trying to convert you into anything, merely putting something out there for you to chew on. I found it interesting and I thought someone else would too. Thanks for reading...

Tiff
