I know a lot about different disciplines to! I'm also good at writing up show rules, & that sort of stuff. As for a description of Thanksgiving here you go...
Originally, a ship called the Mayflower carried settlers, who wanted to live far way from the english law & church, over to North America(the united states)they had a hrad, rough journey across the Atlantic Ocean. When they reached North Amercia, they explored for a bit, & found a place to settle down. Now winter was coming soon, & the settlers were hard pressed to build shelters & gather food.Winter came, & the settlers were in very poor condition, with now much food or supplies.Anyways, some of the settlers met a Indian(American Indian, you'll know why there called that if you ever read about Christopher Columbus & how he discovered America)named Squanto. He showed them where food was, & shoed them how to plant corn to eat, etc. etc. Anyways, the pilgrims(as the settlers were called)got together with the indians, & had a big, big feast.Well, they called it Thanksgiving,(giving thanks to the Lord, is a basic description of the name)& decided to have a big feast like this on the same day every year.Eventually, that holiday caught on with the other pilgrims, & before you know it, pretty much everyone who is a english person is celebrating Thanksgiving every year.Eventually, it became a national holiday for all citizens of the U.S.A. Turkey, pumpkin pie, potatos, beans, cranberry sacue, & that sort of food is traditional for Thanksgiving.Eventually, the symbol of thanksgiving became a turkey, or a feast layed out with the meat of turkey on the table.Thats a basic description, I probably left out some details, but they probably aren't that important.Anyways, Jennie or Katie(this description of Thanksgiving is for Katie)could you please tell me if I can help!
Thanx,
Dana
