"Shannon, When are you going to get ready for your riding lesson?" my mother, Dana, asked me."I'm going, i'm going," I said.I rushed upstairs & quickly changed into a pair of beige colored, Dublin breeches, a smoke blue long sleeved shirt, a Mountain Horse Triumph jacket(thunder/charcoal colored)& put my long, blonde hair into a quick bun.I went downstairs & put on my black paddock boots.Then I ran down to the stable.It looked like it was going to rain out, I noticed.I walked into the barn & my mom called "its going to rain so we need to bring the horses in.Samanthas getting Dun, you bring in the geldings, I'll get Smarty & Merry Man.With that said, she grabbed a lead rope & ran off to the pastures & paddocks to get the horses.I alos grabbed a lead rope & raced down to the gelding's pasture.Masterpiece & Star were waiting by the gate.I brought in Masterpiece first, then ran back & brought in Star.by that time, my mom had brought in Smarty & Merry Man, & Samantha had put Dun in his stall a while before, so all of the horses were in.I put Star in the crossties & quickly groomed him & tacked him up.Then i led him to the largest indoor arena, which was connected to the stable.I mounted him & warmed him up, quickly.my mom got there just when I had finished cantering Star.I walked Star around as she set the jumps up to 3-4 feet."Ok Shannon, do the purple line as a warm-up, then go to the green vertical, jump that & canter on to do the spread." my mom said.I nodded & trotted Star into the line, coming off of the jump, he went into a canter, which I wanted.We jumped the oxer of the line, then turned to the vertical, jumped that, then jumped the spread.I slowed Star to a walk, & my mom said, "Good job, know you've memorized the courses were jumping, right?" I nodded, as I had memorized them already."Ok then, do the course where you start on the coop, ok." I squeezed Star into a canter, & we popped over the coop, we went on to do the rest of the course, ending with a good time, & only one knocked rail.(knocked doing a combination fence)I jumped the 2 other courses I had memorized with Star, as my mom told me to, then my mom said "alright, this was just a little review lesson, so lets end here, ok?" I said "ok." my mom nodded & said "I'll be doing barn chores if you need me, would you please help when your done putting away Star?" I said "fine with me." Mom smiled, nodded & walked off to do barn chores.I walked out Star, then untacked him & gave him a peppermint.It was still raining out, so I couldn't turn out the chestnut Appaloosa.I patted Star's nose, then went & put my tack away.I helped my mom give out hay to the horses, then filled waterbuckets, while my mom did the grain buckets.Finally, I sweeped the aisle & then helped my mom carry some saddlepads, coolers & girth covers up to the house to be washed...
