Yeah, the solution to the mystery was obvious and the characters (specifically the Girl Friday character) were taken in directions that seemed more in service to the plot than true to what's been shown, and she got shoehorned in based on one whopper of a coincidence. It was one of those "treading water" eps that gives a supporting character a backstory that probably didn't exist at all before the episode was plotted.

Your characters all have pretty extensive backstories whether you use them or not, right-?
