I kind of see your point, but it didn't stand out too much to me - with what's been aired, mostly our lost two have connected with Kaylee and Shepherd, and both had reasons not to complain about the abandonment right away. And the others were willing to give in with the medical emergency and the likelihood that they wouldn't be able to find Simon that quickly. Toward the end, Zoe's echo of Jayne's comments seemed to include an understanding that Mal had already made his mind up on the matter - she knew he was going back.

Maybe the guilt from flying away will underscore some of the decisions next week.
