Author: Shadow Raven/Devil Raven
Subject: .:.my.heart.broken.:.

This day marked the passing of four weeks since the minx had last seen her mate, Devil's Shadow. Amber orbs now darkened and clouded with the sorrow of a broken heart she stood alone on th' hilltop, with the exception of their young colt Devil Raven. Longingly she searched the terrain, though now the longing was accompanied by listlessness. Listlesness that could only be attributed to the loss of a loved one, one very dear to her. Lowering her maw to the crest of the young one she stifled a sob and nickered with motherly love to the one thing she had left, remaining calm for her foal's sake. Half-heartedly she whinnied, her once frantic and desperate search now near its end. Her actions and motions were no longer frenzied, nearly all hope that she would ever see him again had left her thoughts and mindset. Without conscious control, th' enchantress reached for the emerald blades, dulled by the tears that threatened to spill from her sockets, only to mouth the spears slowly as they eventually fell from the confines of her jaw. He has left...I am alone. If it weren't for Raven, this would not be a life worth living. She did not know where her beloved had disappeared to, she knew naught but sorrow and pain. The heart of the vix, warmed and whole in the presence of the steed, was breaking. The one thing that kept her from becoming cold and unforgiving was no longer around...she had only the foal that bore resemblance to his sire. Pulling herself together, she stood bravely. Only! she scoffed at herself. Raven is the world to me now! For his sake...for his sake I must continue. He needs a father. This was not something she wished to do...but for the sake of her colt...she must find him some father figure. Slowly, haltingly, the banshee turned. Her heart was broken, could it be healed?

Th' growing colt responded to the nicker of his dam and his occuli gathered the continued darkening and clouding of her visionaries. He knew not what this was for...he only knew that he missed Daddy. Jumping slightly at her listless whinny a shock of understanding coursed through his veins. Slowly understanding dawned on him, as the sun would warm the topography as it rose, the understanding was shed on him, chilling instead of warming. Daddy? Gone? The lad knew he was not dead- Mommy wasn't sad enough for that. Yet his father...the one he had never known...would not be coming to meet him. Why, he did not know, did not comprehend...but the realization caused sadness to follow the understanding. As his mother turned, he followed suit, sorrowed that he would never run with his real sire. This is how it must be...this is how it would be.
