The golden buckskin mare, her barrel swollen with child, moves down into this rather imposing domain with surprising grace considering her highly gravid state. Wasting no time in finding a suitable clearing, the mare lies down.

Not long later she is standing again and helping her new filly to do the same, cleaning her in the process. "Belaya," she whispers softly in her native Russian tongue, pronouncing the 'e' as a 'ye'. "Tebya zovut krasivaya Belaya." 'White,' she tells the filly. 'Your name is beautiful White.' For that is precisely what this newborn is- pure, stunning, striking white, a light in this dark place... and yet, not without her own vein of darkness.
