*Average income almost a $1000 less than African Americans
*Unemployment rate lower than ever before on the reservations where half the indian populaton lived
*Life expectancy less than usual(by 20 years)
*Indians remained to be ignored b/c blacks held attention, good or bad
*"termination"-gov. withdrew all recognition of tribes as legal entities
* durin which the government incouraged Indians to assimilate into the american society
*where they could blend into "white" society and lose their culure
*The new policies were a disaster to the tribes
*Eisenhower banned "termination" w/o the tribes consent
*tribes began to fight discrimination
*new military benefitted from the increasing population
