programs and comercials followed this idea
*VCR's
-now people could watch more than just standard t.v.
-could rent/ buy videos
*DVD
-vcr's competetor
*increased availibility for cable and satelite t.v.
-more channels
*Internet popular
* decline in viewers
-radio and newspapers/ magazines
