] Date Posted: 00:52:45 01/19/05 Wed In reply to: Andrew(Canada) 's message, "anglosphere..." on 06:06:46 01/18/05 Tue I admit I used the wrong choice of words to say 'the balance of power would be upset by an anglosphere federation.' already the US is a huge power and what I should have said is an even bigger English speaking country would cause a lot of adverse effects, particularly other world alliances to try and counter-balance this huge nation. If it were just the Federal Commonwealth however, I feel it would be a nation that, although not as big as the US, would be considered a sane, more liberal, and friendlier power than the US. As well, even though I would not ever condone being on bad terms with the US, I also feel we shouldn't be too friendly either, as again that would cause suspicion and resentment. I also feel our traditions would be at risk by joining an Angloshpere, just as I feel Canada's traditions and government are at risk from americanisation, and the UK's traditions and government are at risk from being destroyed by the EU(not sure if Australia and New Zealand have these problems, but if they do, could someone elaborate). Also, I 'm just scared that an Anglosphere Federation would be a huge step towards creating a world government, which is a bit too '1984' for me.
