The idea was for us to be 'their man in Europe', to make sure that the blighters didn't do anything too insane. Secondly, they now regret it, since it is entirely feasible that they will lose their main ally as we are obliged to adopt a common foreign and defence policy with the French, Germans and sundry peaceniks. Condi Rice, who is taking office this week, is quite keen on Britain joining NAFTA. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
