Subject: Weird weather

We are having a strange winter of extremes in Canada. In Toronto, Ontario, it's 12 C and raining, and out west in Alberta it's -25 C with a wind chill of -39 C. It was -51 C in Saskatchewan last week. Meanwhile, Toronto, Ontario will hit a high of 14 C with rain tomorrow. Luckily, I live in Toronto, where it is warm. However, this morning's freezing rain was treacherous.

I saw on the CBC news about the flooding in the UK: in Carlisle and in Scotland. The streets look like rivers and winds up to 160 km/h. I feel very sorry for those poor people who have lost so much in the floods.

Odd weather coming down from Canada on to seattle as well. One day its 5 C the next its 0 C and colder. I hope it stops soon. Every day i get excited for a snow day, but everytime I get disappointed.

The weather here has indeed been vile lately. 100mph gusting winds for days on end, often combined with sleet (freezing rain). Fortunately there's a lull today and a nice blue sky, but I almost wish I drove to work rather than walking and I won't be sorry to be leaving Scotland! (I'm returning to live in England next week).
