This province is very British and proud of the monarchy and the Union Jack. The Premier ordered this as a protest against the Federal Government of Canada. The maple leaf flag in Newfoundland is seen as the flag of the federal government rather than the nation. Newfoundlanders tend to associate more with the Union Jack.
