I have added a few reports to the reports page and members' news - which I urge people to keep using and contributing to, rather than just using the forum.

If I have omitted anyone's reports, please let me know and I will post them on the reports page. Or you can contribute them yourself to the news page.

I have tried to come up with a new hook for the front page of the website to replace the tired headline about Greatest FC Citizen, but I can't think of anything. If anyone has a suitable idea or link to put there, please let me know.

Thinking about suggestions from the floor, I intend to propose a monthly vote for the Presidents which could occur on, for example, the first Friday every month, when any proposals put forward by presidents or members during that month will be voted on and if appropriate passed into policy. Please let me know what you think. For now proposals can be posted on the forum using an info emoticon to flag that they are for debate and a vote at society level. If the idea takes off (as always I will be led by public reaction), then I will set up a new server like the Members' News server for people to post their ideas on, and for these to be debated and voted on by the presidents.

I am also willing to appoint non-presidents to the committee on a rolling basis - say 3 at a time for 3 months - to stimulate new ideas and urge the committee into action.

I think that we need to reach out to people more. I'm not quite sure how we can do this cheaply and easily, but for the continuance of this organisation, it is ultimately not the reports, headlines, debates, or website that will matter, but the message contained therein and who reads it.

Also, I have spoken to numerous people about the idea, most people seem to think that its a good idea once I've explained it to them, but not one that will ever materialise. Unfortunately, this never dissuades the republicans.

However, we need to build on the general consensus that this is a good idea in order to get people interested.

I nominate Charles Haddon Spurgeon as the greatest citizen instead of the monster Darwin.

Yes, but I hardly think that Mr Newry Neock or whatever he calls himself has much antipathy to hypocrisy, since he seems to suggest establishing a militant theocracy whilst castigating Popery and El Islam - the two greatest Theocratic institutions since the fall of Tibet.

And I'm all for hypocrisy. Wilde called it 'the English vice', referring to the paradox that dishonourable people who wanted to convince others that they were honourable had to behave in an honourable manner in order to do so. If hypocrisy makes us behave better out of fear of being 'found out', then all the better!

"Wilde called it 'the English vice', "

I thought that was something else, which he himself practiced!

And anyway, in his case it was "the Anglo-Irish Vice"!
