I am not quite so pessimistic. I would say that opinion polls have been thoroughly discredited, especially after the US election

Most people I talk to have nothing but contempt for Tony Blair, even those who voted for him at the last election. He got into power by pulling off a massive confidence trick against middle-Britain. Labour�s share of the vote has not changed that much since their opposition days, so they benefited by many Conservative voters staying at home.

I hope these voters will return to the fold for our country�s sake.
