I am wondering if it is wise to go in guns blazing with the citizenship idea to start with. Perhaps more people would take notice of EU style tactics, i.e small but relentless steps forward, and chipping away at their ideas.

Best of luck to you in whatever you decide to do...

I am reminded of much that has been said here recently. It has often been claimed that if any move to a Federal Commonwealth is to come to fruition, then it is Britain that must lead on the issue, promoting the agenda for others to follow. The EU is an obvious obstacle to this happening at the moment.

However, there is a paradox here. Perhaps it is the other countries that should lead. What more could focus the minds of politicians in Britain, and hence swing the debate away from Europe in the public consciousness, than a new idea emerging from the ashes of the Commonwealth, with support from each of the aforementioned countries?

Just a thought...

Jim:

Welcome aboard...Although I am past president of my riding, I am an automatic delegate to the Convention in Montreal. If you get elected to go, we should agree to meet there.

I still have 2 caucus members (Daryl Kramp, Scott Reid) committed to attend my book launch when it gets organized.

Kramp has already seen the manuscript, but has promised not to do anything until the book gets released.

I think a full and structured argument calling for a Commonwealth free trade zone will be the path of least political resistance...
