Subject: Lag and it's impact

Hi

I love the theory behind single length irons. Been practicing about 5 weeks. I've been playing over 55 years, still not too old yet to learn a little more, but I have a question on the ability to achieve optimum lag using the suggested back swings, down swing and follow through. I've lost a little yardage, not gained any.

Is it desirable, following a solid backswing (I am pretty upright but very traditional in my swing, thus the appeal generated from young DeChambeau's approach as it might work nicely for upright swings), to layoff the club a little to put it in better position to have optimum lag and to also to find a nice rhythm for hip movement toward the target, impact and 45 degree follow through?

I have yet to see this addressed as appropriate for this club design, not that it should make a difference in theory. I am definitely challenged after all this time in getting enough lag with one plane for all these clubs, including driver. And, have managed to add the number of shanks to my increased repertoire as well (that is caused by moving toward the ball, I know).

In seventeen years we have never had a customer who has lost distance. Bear in mind that you must compare loft angles and not club numbers as a few manufacturers set their loft angles one club stronger to give you the illusion that their clubs hit further.
