Jim,

You should play the ball approximately one or two ball widths left of center. If you are experiencing a low trajectory you are swaying forward of the ball through impact. Believe me, if you eliminate the lateral swaying action entirely from your swing and stay behind the ball through impact you will see a much higher trajectory as well as increased distance and accuracy. I would suggest going to the range and practicing this to get the feeling of not moving forward of the ball at impact.

Jim: In addition to the excellent advice given by Mr. Lake I have my students adjust their spine-angle tilt. If you keep your spine angle "straight" or perpendicular to the ground at address and during the swing (face-on view), the ball will have a tendency to stay low. If you "tilt" your spine angle slightly toward your rear foot at address (face-on view), the ball will tend to fly higher. Try doing this at the range - it is interesting to see how changing your spine angle changes your ball flight. Staying "behind" the ball at impact is a good indicator you have the proper amount of spine-angle tilt for the type of shot you are making. Take care and hit 'em straight! R2
