Like most people I never read the instructions when I buy a new product and this is how I approached my new set of 1 Irons when they were delivered. I tried them at the range three times and was convinced they weren't for me and called 1 Iron Golf for a return authorization number.

By chance Mr. Lake answered the phone and we talked for about half an hour. First he explained to me that only having the clubs for four days wasn't nearly enough time to get used to them. Second, he asked me if I had read and followed the Playability Tips that were included with my clubs. When I told him that I hadn't read them I could hear him let out a sigh over the phone. He explained that the Playability Tips were the key to success with single length irons and wasn't surprised at my results since I hadn't read or follwed them. He told me everything I should have read in the Playability Tips and why it was so important to study and follow them to the letter. He took his time with me and really opened my eyes. I told him that I would like to keep the clubs for the full 30 days and really give them an honest try.

After studying the Playability Tips, which are excellent, I went to the range with a much greater understanding of the system and clubs. There was a huge difference between my first few range trips and this one. I hit all of the irons straight and long with a much smoother swing then I thought would work. My next few range trips proved even more impressive because as I became more and more comfortable using the same swing with each club my shots became crisper and had more power. I was smoking the ball with the 3,4,and 5 irons and dropping them like darts while my wedge shots looked like the pros.

This was two months ago and needless to say I didn't return the clubs. My distances have gone up with every club and my scores are lower with each round. It's not very often that somebody invents a better mouse trap but in this case it's true.

I want to thank 1 Iron Golf and Mr. Lake for taking his time with me - the best customer service I have ever seen.
