Subject: Scotland 2005

I thought this was the best trip yet! Despite the fright from British Airways.

Dorms: Awesome! Thanks Lynne. I think we've found a new place. The area is nicer and I feel more secure walking around there without getting mugged.

Buses: Billy was super. Thanks Ann for arranging the coaches. It was tricky getting in touch with the company majors, so thanks for being persistant and following up with them. For next time we might look at a 70 person coach. I saw one from another band. I don't remember which company it was. I don't think McLean has anything that big so we might need to look around again.

Airlines: I'm done with BA! I don't care if I have to change planes or whatever, I don't want to fly them again. This is the second time that they have cancelled flights. In 2003, we were cancelled but ended up on another airline because we were travelling with kids. The "yummy" sandwiches that they gave us to eat were basically bread with mayonnaise as the main ingredient and were pretty bad. Enough said.

Bands: I am so proud of both groups! The Grade IV band was awesome. To start in January to plan to go to Scotland was an impossible task. Mike and Todd took on a job that looked pretty tough, and made such improvements that they actually could have made the finals. Every player in that group deserves a big hand!

Grade III played brilliantly. The drum section really impressed me. The addition of Kyle was super too. Thanks for making the effort to get the music down. The pipe section was also the talk of the "piping gossip line". If people like Terry Lee are talking about how well we did then there's something to be proud of.

As a proud mom, I'm really proud of my kids, Cody and Cailey that just two years ago in 2003 were spectators looking in, now they can feel the thrill of competing in a world class group.

Well that's just some of my impressions. I really had a good time, and everyone got along so well that it made the trip enjoyable!
