um, dying of mortal embarrassment when they're like "AH YOU STUPID [insert derrogatory term here]! I WOULD NEVER EVEN CONSIDER TALKING TO YOU. EVER."

like one time [okay, so it was like last week] a guy at lifeguarding [a total creep] asked me out, and i was so shocked i screamed "NO, NUH UH, NEVER" and fell down some stairs and then ran away. so i think it would have been better for both of us had he kept his feelings to himself.

thats pretty awful. but i usually subtly hint when i like someone. or not so subtly. i'm not shy tho, so i dont know what shy people do when they like someone.

a timid "hi" doesn't really convey your feelings, but i also think its kind of awkward when you're like

"um, can i talk to you for a minute? so, um, yea, i kind of have this crush on someone..."
hunk/hunkette: "oh yea? who?"
shy person: "well, this is probably going to sound completely ridiculous [nervous giggle], but oh its you"

i mean, that could be either completely awkward or totally cute depending on how you look at it.

as long as you don't like jerks [aka me] then i think you should pretty much always tell people, in some way or another, how you feel
