I bought a VisionTek... Tech support(Just like all Tech Support)sucked ass... I say SUCKED because they have gone out of business(And they were suppose to be one of the contenders!) When I first got it(I bought the 4600 because I had a $100 Best Buy gift card and buying something over $300, and with tax it was just over $300, I had the chance to pay it off in 6 months with no interest, and because it is top of the line)I had a lot of trouble getting it to work properly. There appears to be many problems with nVidia video chipsets and VIA motherboard chipsets. They sometimes do not like to play nice with one another. I kept having immediate lockups anytime I started a 3D application. I was lucky to be able to fix it by setting my AGP speed from 4x to 2x. Since that time I have yet to have any problems. VisionTek kepts saying that it might be a defective card... Abit(My motherboard manufacturer) said their motherboard should work just fine with the Geforce4. I started poking around some message boards that TONS of people were having problems with GeForce4 cards and motherboards with VIA chipsets... more specifically, Abit motherboards with VIA chipsets, A lot even with the same motherboard I have. As with all groups, they always point the finger towards the other party. I guess some MB makers have come out and recognized that their motherboard has issues running GeForce4 cards and they were working on fixes. Mine works in 2x(Practically no difference between 2x and 4x)and only locks up when I play GTA3 and even then, those lock ups are completely random. I can sometimes play for hours and sometimes I never lockup while playing it. The card is face and real sharp... I like the performance but I really need to get a faster PC since it is my current bottleneck. I have a decent speed at 1.2 GHrtz but I would really like to upgrade to one of the new XPs(Not sure if I want to drop the cash for the 2400 or 2600). All in all, like the card, but I hated the crap I had to go through to get it to work and the fact that my warranty is pretty much worthless now.
