Subject: From Love to Hate

Perhaps, the postman will ring twice,
once for his duty,
and again to be nice.
Perhaps, there will be sweet perfume,
a letter of love,
sented roses in bloom.
Why the hell do I wait for you?
like a mooncalf, simpleton
with my nose stuck against this big brown door,
peeping for a deliveryman.
Perhaps, I should not hear the bell,
or the slight knocking
of love or farewell.
Perhaps, I could sit on the front porch,
should everyone see
that I carry this torch
It burns me up that I am lounging here
like I�ve nothing else to do,
waiting for some perfect stranger on my front steps,
pretending I would not notice activity.
Perhaps, I could go up the street,
down to the corner,
and carrier meet.
Perhaps I could ask unconcerned,
regarding a letter
for which my heart burned.
I am discontent like no other man
because the sidewalk is too hot without shoes
and this freaking robe, I slept in throughout the night,
is torn in the back.
Perhaps, he�s not coming at all
with no kind letter,
and no lover�s call
Perhaps, my love, you are not true
as said in your letter
Damn I hate you!
