Do you have friends you can call on?
Be it anytime daytime or night.
A friend who can lead you from darkness.
To guide you back into the light.
A friend who will stand as your anchor.
In the turbulent ocean of life.

A friend does not ask for payment.
A friend doesn�t do it for gain.
A friend doesn�t do it through pity.
Just does all to help ease your pain.
This is a friend to hold dearly.
A friend you should cherish for life.

I have no friends I can call on.
When things are getting me down.
I have no shoulder to lean on.
Nor crutches lest I should fall down.
So I suffer all life�s little problems.
And solve them the best way I can.

Oh! For friends I could call on.
To talk to and help if they can.
To tell me to get it together.
To grow up, be strong, be a man.
A friend is all that I�m asking.
A friend for a friendless man.

Alan~ I'LL BE YOUR FRIEND!!! I'm no reciprocal altruist, I won't do it to benefit myself; in fact, I'll only be your friend if YOU promise me to cheer up and smile! That poem really hurt me because although I have tons of people who call themselves my "friends", none of them can really appreciate the person I TRULY am.... I, however, will try to the limit of my capacity, to appreciate who YOU really are...

It is hard to find a true friend that will stick by you through thick and thin. I thought I had a couple of them but it seems like I haven't anymore.
