Greetings from afar!

Man, you guys there in Local 480 sure have it rough. I heard about the deal at the first of the year where the BA filed charges on some guys for working for a non-union contractor. The way I heard it, they first got charged with not holding union meetings at the proper time. That was due to a typo that mentioned the wrong paragraph of thr constitution. It also seems that there were more union people on this job, but they weren't charged. At the trial board hearing, Since the guys were no longer employed by this contractor, and the charges had been mis-filed, the BA decided to drop all the charges and agreed to let the matter die. Then, as the story goes, the BA contacted another union member and talked HIM into filing new chargs. When it gets to the trial board THIS time, the BA doesn't even bother to show up. As the trial board procedings get moving, it comes out that NONE of the guys were working their tools. They were all in supervisory and/or field engineering positions, which is NOT a violation of the constitution.

When times are as hard as they are now, why is the BA there going out of his way to make it even harder on the members who are trying to do what they can to make a living. Especially right at Christmas, when all of this was supposed to have happened. I was told this deal has
caused at least one member, and maybe more, to drop their tickets. The one was a 20 year old ticket. Thats' a real shame.

Everybody in 480 needs tro remember one thing. Elections roll around on a regular basis. And they can take care of this kind of thing on a PERMANENT basis!
